Profile
The Knights of Columbus, the largest fraternal lay organization of The Catholic Church, are Catholic gentlemen committed to the exemplification of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, Patriotism and Defense of The Catholic Church. Thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society. The Brotherhood of the Knights of Columbus, of which there are councils world-wide, has a three-fold mission – Faith as practicing Catholics, Love for your country, and Dedication to serve the community. Here at St. Agnes, Council #5633, and St. Matthias, Council #11173, our Brothers meld together their many talents in order to provide spiritual, manpower & financial assistance to our Church and Community. The Knights of Columbus meet at St. Agnes Catholic Church on the 2nd Thursday of the month year-round for dinner/business meetings and the 4th Thursday for social evenings. Please call Marc LeCours, Grand Knight, at 860-904-3855.
